  wrist straps — tripod-mount

Your choice of 1/4" wide natural, russet, dark brown, or black leather with black, gray, white, red, green, blue, yellow, light brown, brown, dark brown, raspberry, turquoise, orange, and hot pink .040" (1mm) diameter waxed heavy-duty cord. A black rubber o-ring slides to reduce the strap opening. Check out the Colors page.

The leather wraps around a nylon bushing with a machine screw inserted into the bushing and bonded with the bushing. The bushing turns with the machine screw while the strap rotates freely in the bushing. There are two styles of screws: black thumb screw and low profile screw. The black thumb screw is tightened with your fingers. The low profile screw can be tightened with a coin. (Coin not provided.)

The black thumbscrew is a Shear-Loc® knob assembled on a stainless steel socket head cap screw. The low profile screw is also stainless steel.

  Wrist Pads

Wrist straps are often just there for insurance and aren't used to hang the camera. But sometimes camera hanging happens and, if it's a heavy camera, a little extra support comes in handy. Wrist pads are 1" wide and 8 3/4" long. They are the same leather as the straps and are available in the same colors. If you want a wrist pad, it must be ordered with the strap.   end-mount

The tripod end-mount strap is used on 35mm cameras with the tripod mount on the end of the base. It comes in two lengths like the lug mount straps: regular and a slightly longer one for larger hands. The price of the regular tripod end-mount strap is US$22. The long tripod end-mount strap is US$23.

Which strap, if more than one?

  center-mount

The tripod center-mount strap is for cameras with the tripod mount in the center of the base. It comes in two lengths like the lug mount straps: regular and a slightly longer one for larger hands. The price of the regular tripod center-mount strap is US$24 and the long tripod center-mount is $25.

The tripod center-mount strap is also useful for medium format folders, TLRs, and SLRs (if they don't get too big!) I use the strap on my left wrist and leave my right hand free for adjusting the lens. Of course I'm right handed. Left handers might switch.

Which strap, if more than one?

  tripod reducer bushing

The thumb screw has a 1/4-20 thread. Many cameras have a 3/8 threaded hole. I can provide a tripod reducer bushing for US$5.00. The tripod reducer bushing just screws into the 3/8 tripod mount and then you can screw in the thumb screw in the wrist strap into the tripod reducer bushing. It also allows you to use a standard tripod.
